About Newport PD

The Newport Police Department provides 24-hour police service to the citizens of Newport and visitors. The officers are first responders to all police emergencies and are responsible for patrol, traffic enforcement, accident investigations, and criminal investigations in Newport.

The department also offers a “vacation house check” program for Newport homeowners and conducts public safety programs throughout the year.

To better serve the citizens of Newport, the police department is dispatched through the 911 Center. To report a crime or request police response, call 911 or call (302) 573 – 2800. For non-emergent messages or to contact an officer directly, call (302) 995-1411 and leave a voicemail message.

The department has joined with the Elsmere Bureau of Police to form the Newport & Elsmere Police Accountability Committee. Please follow this link to be directed to the Newport & Elsmere PAC webpage.
